Can you fish at night at a state park now with a day pass? I’ve been wanting to try Choke Canyon at night to beat the heat.

They allow over night camping now, so I see no reason why you couldn’t fish all night. With all the sticks and stumps in Choke, I’d want someone with me.

I wasn’t planning on going far from the south ramp. Not too many stumps there. Probably get there before dark, find a starting spot, and use the trolling motor to slowly fish back to the ramp.

gators, watch for the gators.
first time there I slept on a picnic table, woke up to about 6 gators laying all around me waiting for bkfst.
this was at the main gate/office area.

South Shore gates close at 8pm, if you are determined to use that ramp, I’d call the Calliham office and verify you can do that from there.

I just went to the TPWD site to the "make reservations page" and the only overnight camping is at the Calliham unit. South Shore states Day Use Only, so that means you go to south shore you have to be out of the park by 8 pm. Launching a boat and staying out on the water long past the closing time, you probably come back to a ticket on your windshield, so you need to contact the park rangers if intending to do that. There is probably better fishing not far from the ramp at the Calliham ramp if you want to try night fishing, and less wind to deal with.
Just one more cast!
