@ 18 I got a big ol' Rebel flag tattooed on my arm. A few years ago I had it covered. Not out of shame, but because the general public does not view it the same as they did 30 + years ago. Things change.

It was CART where the dudes were blacking out. Quite a tick quicker than the Indy cars.

The turn 3/4 reconfiguration wasn't due to that, though - that came early on. They didn't change the banking (at least not on that particular reconfiguration - it was kept at 24 degrees). What they did do was widen the exit out of 4. The racing line there took you straight into the wall, so they chopped a ton of seats out there to widen the track.

I honestly can say that I'd rather we not erase history by tearing down monuments or banning flags etc. Lots of flags and symbols make other people uncomfortable but in this country you are supposed to live and let live.

I can tell you all that I have seen a reaction to the stars and bars in person with a very close friend that happens to be of color.

We were at Rayburn 20 years ago fishing a tournament, getting gas at a gas station and some snacks (beer) and a truck full of locals flying the stars and bars pulled up. It visually bothered this person, not in an aggressive agitated way but in a cautious almost fearful way.

There was several of us there including the Go Rilla that is Greg Yates so I assured him he had nothing to fear or worry about. But I've never forgot that
