A bud and I where talking On the phone about the weather changes this week and he brought an old familiar name, One I enjoyed watching! Mr Harold Taft. I grew up watching him and learning so much about Texas weather.

Dr Harold Taft. He had a PhD in Meteorology. The very first TV weather man to do that. .

He was the man when it came to weather in the dfw area, and without all the computer models and such they have now.

I watched him as I was growing up. He had his hand drawn weather maps. Watched as he trained David Finfrock. Watched a very nervous Finfrock do his first solo show.

Probably right with his weather forecasts way more than anyone else in the business before or after him.

Went to a Rangers game back then with a few friends. On his afternoon forecast he said there was a storm coming that would hit the old Arlington Stadium about the 2nd inning. I think about two pitches into the top of the first there was a downpour. But Harold had said that it wouldn't last long, and about 15 minutes later it stopped and the game resumed. Mr. Accuracy!

I don't know where he lived but I was working at Minyards grocery stores in Lancaster back then and he would pop in from time to time and was one of the most pleasant “celebrity” type guys-
Alway friendly to folks as he walked around or in the checkstand-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!
