Well, wanted to get an afternoon of fishing in so I went to Mansfield dam (35 min from house) on Lake Travis - at capacity. I had no idea that was even an issue. Ok, so, went to the Lake Austin ramp at the Pennybacker bridge - chaos. Looks like folks have to park their rigs a mile away. Ok.. went to Decker lake - at capacity.

Is this common? I guess so on weekends.

At any rate, boats back in the garage and I'm mad as a hornet.

Yep. Looks like everybody got tired of being at home and bought a boat for entertainment.

I drove through Twin Coves park at Grapevine late this afternoon and it was a madhouse. Trucks and trailers parked along the roadside, in the grass, etc.

There must have been 30 boats staged around the ramp waiting to load. Added to that, a bunch of people were fishing on the only dock causing additional mayhem.

I guess you gotta go really early in the a.m.

I miss winter fishing already!

Houston county lake was overloaded today as well. They even started a little party out on the sand bar in front of the marina. Had to be 15 wake and ski boats tied down partying together. It is crazy!

This. Lewisville has been a madhouse also. It's always been crowded but never to the degree it is now days. Dangerous out there!

This is why I work weekends! Haven't been on a DFW area lake on a Saturday between Memorial day and Labor Day in years. This year the weekend is spilling over into the weekdays.

Fished through the winter until 2 weeks ago at Stillhouse. Madness. Pretty crazy even early mornings during the week. Boat's in the shop getting Line-X'd and serviced. Taking a few weeks off until it slacks off some.

Or put a down payment on one with their stimulus check, you think I'm kidding...

Well, learned that, at least for Travis County parks, they post capacity overages on their FB page. This weekend, every park hit capacity. Next time I'll check before leaving.

I stopped by North Texas Marine Thursday on my way to Texoma, was talking with the owner Joe Wallace, his boat inventory is depleted, a few weeks ago you could not have fit another boat in there, he told me he sold more boats in May alone than he sold in April, May, and June of last year.

When you can’t even get a pass for Decker, it’s time to head to the coast.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

Yep, we got to Mansfield early (7:45) on Saturday and it wasn't that crowded. As the day went on the lake was crazy busy. When we pulled out at about 5pm there were some open spots in the parking lot, but they still had the entrance closed off like it was full.

Anybody been going to Decker during the week?
