Low hours? Yes ! Scheduled maintenance done? Yes. Worked hard? they're built for hard work.

If you are getting a good deal then go for it.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

For me it would depend on the rental company.
If I knew for a fact they serviced the skid steer when it was supposed to be serviced then I would consider buying from them.
I worked for a company that rented machinery as small as a skid steer and as large as a cat 330.
It was hit and miss with different rental outfits when it came to regular service work or how quickly they would show up to fix a problem.
I routinely saw machinery go 100 hours or more over the recommended service before the rental company would show up to service.

I have watched my co-workers use rented equipment with a heavy hand . If I was going to buy from a rental #1 it would have to be a unbelievable good deal . #2 I would have a independent mechanic do a compression check and go over the machine with a fine tooth comb . Why would a rental company sell a piece of equipment like that unless they are concerned about its longevity for some reason .
They are usually built tough but all it takes is overheating it and the engine takes the hit .
