I'm looking for a trailer that can transport two Kayaks. I'm on a budget and would like something reasonably priced. If it needs some TLC that would be fine.

What is "reasonably priced"? I carried 3 kayaks on my Malone MicroSport trailer today.

Those trailers are way out of my budget. I'm not looking to buy a new trailer.

I've been looking for a "reasonably priced" trailer off and on for a few months now. I can get a Harbor Freight trailer for under $500, but I'll have to put a few hundred more into it to make it work. So that's close to $1k all in. Even then it won't be very good quality and won't hold up to the use.

The used jet ski trailers all need work too, but they should last longer. I haven't seen a used one worth buying for less than $500. After repair and customizing you're back close to $1k. Not to mention your time and labor.

Makes those Malone and others look more reasonable. Sure you pay a little more, but it's ready to go.

I still have this trailer. It is a big, heavy duty trailer that had a rack for 4 kayaks when I bought it. The rack needed some repair, so I removed it altogether and threw it away. Now, it is set up for two and can be adjusted to fit just about any two kayaks that exist. The price is a give away. It has brand new tires and wheels that have a little over 100 miles on them and a usable spare. Lights worked last time I used it, which has been about a year. 2" hitch.

Fair warning, everyone thinks their used ragged out trailers are made of gold. And trailers that are remotely cheap on FB Marketplace or Craigslist sell immediately. Finding a good deal on a good trailer is extremely difficult, and kayaking is very hot right now so any trailers made specifically for kayaks or already customized for kayaks and ready to go are going to command a pretty high asking price.

I think the $500 Harbor Freight trailer would be fine. I have several friends that bought them and use them to lug around lawn equipment or home supplies from home depot or lowes, and they seem just fine. Kayaks aren’t very heavy so I don’t see them putting too much stress on this trailer. You could probably just tie the kayaks down good on the trailer and be fine, because modifying it with a kayak rack may add a lot to the price very quickly.

As Lee Finlay mentioned, the jet ski trailers can be found for a similar price to the HF trailers, but for that low of a price it will likely be junk and you will have to put a lot into it to make it safe for the road and to modify it to hold two kayaks. Not really worth it IMO unless you happen to find one that is in immaculate mechanical condition for under $500, which may be about impossible.

A roof rack may be a more economical choice if you have a vehicle that will allow the installation of one and you don’t mind lifting the kayaks up there and strapping them down. Otherwise, if you own a pickup, you can do what I do and just throw them in the bed.

A Harbor Freight trailer with a couple of sets oof J racks would be about as inexpensive as anything else. If it's not used in salt water it should have a decent useful life.

Catfish hunter, sorry I did not reply to your PM. I don't get many PM's and I forget to check to see if I have any, so I just got your message from several days ago and replied.

This is a lot bigger, heavier trailer than the Harbour Freight trailer, tires and wheels are new, the bunk brackets, treated boards, and PVC tubes were all put on about a year ago and it has only been pulled about 100 miles.

I will send pics to anyone seriously interested. Please no photos if you have no interest in buying the trailer. I would post the pics here if I knew how.

I took an older 12' flatbed trailer that had rails down both sides...ran some 2x4's across it with pool noodles on them to protect the bottom of the kayaks. I can haul 3 on there no problem.

Now you just gotta find you an inexpensive flatbed
