I do really good bank fishing early in the morning just as the sun is coming up. I throw just about everything, Topwater,spinnerbaits, Swimbaits, jerkbaits, senkos, flukes, etc and do pretty good. After the sun gets up, I can’t buy a bite. Anything I can do to get bit after the sun is all the way up?

All depends on the body of water. If they have cover to hide in you can probably still catch them, but if there is no cover and they have a place to go deep...that's where they will be. Might consider getting a kayak or even waders. I also recommend creeks, especially if there is a bridge going over it, during the day as fish in those places tend to be accessible any time of day - just a matter of if they want to bite or not. And if you're just wanting to get bit by anything - try downsizing and you should be able to catch sunfish easy if the body of water has a good population of them.

In the summer months fishing is usually over by 10:00 am. But there are lots of exceptions. Some species are not as affected by the heat. Also, a cloudy or rainy day can extend the bite. And then there are those weird days were you would think nothing will be biting and they hit everything you throw out.

You just don't know, if you don't go. Just go when you can, regardless of what the moon says, or direction the wind blows, pre-front, post front, whether the cows are up and eating, or the birds are chirping. The heat of the day or the chill of the winter. You may discover fishing is more than just catching.

If water is moving use live bait.

Best advice I've ever heard:

If you're not getting bit, slow down.
If you think you're going slow enough, you're too fast.
Go slower.

Especially true in the summer and winter months.

If you ain’t out there first thing in the morning, you are going to have a much harder time getting a bite in the hot and cold months of the year. Morning fishing has always been the best to me, no matter which lake I’m fishing, no matter what state, or what time of the year. That’s when fish like to feed and they are out actively looking for anything they can find to eat. Once the feeding frenzy stops, it will be trickier to find them. A boat with a good sonar unit is invaluable in these situations as it will help you find brush piles in deeper water which is where fish are most likely going to be.

There are several lakes in Texas that allow public access to the waterway below the dam for fishing. Those spots usually do pretty well from the bank all day. Finding an area where fish can find shade or cover is going to be important. I have caught a lot of sunfish lately at several different lakes going in the afternoons and fishing the banks.

You didn’t mention the species your fishing for, if you aren’t picky, catfish can be caught by the stringer full all through June in the shallows any time of day if you know where to look. Crappie are gonna be really tough until fall, sandies mostly just early mornings and sometimes during the day if on a major wind blown point, black bass mostly just early mornings.

Agree with what was said about summer months. You need a boat or Kayak. Generally the fish will move into deeper points off river channels. In fact most larger fish will completly stay offshore and feed off humps during the summer and winter months. This rule applys to almost all lakes in the southern part of the US, find humps about 20-30 ft and you will more than likely have a stringer full of fish by midday. Much like bank fishing, if you see crowds of people or boats, you know you are in the right place.
