Heading out in the morning with my son, just seeing if anyone has anything to report. It's been a long time. My son is 6 and will not last long if we're not "catching". Thanks for any help in advance

I went out early Friday morning and found some schooling fish near the S main lake point to Richardson Slough. The flats just N of the swim cove over by Airplane looked ready to go as well, with lots of baitfish skittering about, but they never schooled and I only ended up with a few there. But looks like good schooling action might not be too far off.

I might head out there tomorrow too. Not sure yet. The lake level looks like it has come up 4 feet in the last week. May have to stick close to the dam and the north end to find better water.

Thanks, I'll probably start out near the dam as well.. I won't be out too early, my boy is not much of a morning person. I'll be in blue and white Promaster, swing by if you see me.

After I checked the weather channel this morning, we ended up going to Arlington because it's a lot closer to home. My son isn't much of a morning person either. He caught one sandbass near the Yacht Club hump before we started seeing lightning and came in. Didn't even get the boat on the trailer when the storm hit. A big wind gust caught my truck door and bent the hinges a little so we decided to wait it out on the ramp before trailering and coming home.

Hope you guys fared better over there.

Got on Benbrook at sunrise, and went to Richardson Slough S point. A few very brief flurries of sandies, but only got 1. Went to the humps N of swim cove and got 1 sandy and 3 undersize hybrids on slab/fly at 22 ft. About 8 am the weather started looking like trouble eek so I made a run for it. Got loaded up and in the truck before the rain hit. One other boat at Longhorn got off the water just in time too.

I have been slaughtering the sandies and hybrids, litterally. I have gone out everyday over the last week and have yet to have a day where we didnt catch at least 30 fish an hour.(I have only been fishing two hours at max and best bite has been right at sunset) I will say that with the water being so muddy, I have changed my attack a little. I would usually say it is cheating but I was marking tons and tons of fish stacked but they were not hitting my slab. I decided to load up on shad and sure enough, the fish would lite me up. I am headed out again today to load up. All fish have been catch an release except for a few big hybrids and sandies that manage to swallow the hook.
The lake is off color but the fish are still biting. I have been finding all my fish deep. I think last wednesday was the last day I saw the surface covered with fish but before the rains, the fish were all over the surface. I think ensign was slaughtering them that day and had no problem finding them. Check out the channels that lead into richardson slough, you might find good numbers of fish there... Good luck

Woke up at 6am and checked the radar.. saw the line of storms moving in and decided to stay home. Time constraints kept us from heading out after the storm. I will try one evening this week since it does seem to be more consistent this time of year.

Keith, I really need to start catching shad out there to get into some Hybrids. Do you have any tips for a first timer grin I have a 400.00 shad tank that came with the boat and have yet to fill it up!!

Today was a tough day!! I fished everyday except for Saturday and today the fishing was sorry. I did not catch any 40 fish and no monster hybrids either. ROUGH.. I did manage to catch a buzz and get some swimming in.

Wife and I hit the lake about 10 to 5PM tried several spots with shad and slabs. maked fish all over but no takers. Finally caught a few small ones on the hump nearest the pier by the dam in 12'. Im sure the rising water has them messed up. Gonna try arlington today.

Slow morning. I tried Richardson Slough early and marked someting in one spot but no takers. Finally caught one in about 20 feet of water on the west side of the damn. Then the storms came. Never got to try the flats by the RC airfield.

Too funny, so I wasnt the only one having problems?? I noticed the boat show but I figured I would stay away and try about five other holes.....lol Did anyone try the boat show? Looked like everyone was fishing the south channel of RS but I did not see anyone catching. My buddy on my boat caught one nice hybrids and we caught a few sandies and one 2+lb crappie but that was it. I did manage a ton of bites on the shad but they were only biting them half way down the body and killing them. I dont know how the fishing can change so much in one day. I figure I will take today off and probably tomorrow but will get out again on wednesday and thursday.

Karl, I fished the humps and points outside the RC field and that is where we caught a few sandies and hybrids but it was SLOW. I fished about 2 hours of the five I was out and it was just sorry. A few days ago, I would have been lighting them up but then again, I was cheating and using shad...lol Too bad the fish didnt want shad yesterday. I did mark a few but still not as thick as the other days. I would show fish on the bottom and a few layers thick but never did I get fish throughout the water column..
