this combo auto/railroad bridge is on a fairly busy highway near Santa Cruz in central Bolivia...it's close to a mile long and they alternate letting cars come from each direction...usually have to sit close to 30 minutes each time you cross and can be longer if a train comes through....lot of flea market type vendors on each side of the bridge plus lot of people walking up and down road selling water,drinks,snacks,windshield washing etc...it's been over 15 years since I've been down there but at the time Bolivia was one of the poorest countries on earth and had no welfare system so you saw a lot of flea market type stalls and people trying to eke out a living...

Wow, can you imagine if someone messed up and you met a train half way across the bridge.

they have police directing traffic on each end of bridge and I assume they are on duty 24/7....the road runs parallel to the track and you have to drive up onto the railroad track then turn left to enter the bridge....we crossed that bridge 4 times in the two years I hunted down there and one time we got there just as a train was coming off the bridge...don't recall the wait time being over 30 minutes any time we crossed....

But did yall listen to the rails?
