I have a 898 unit. Went out today and my sonar doesn't read running and sitting still. Down imaging not working either. SI is working. Is this a problem with the transducer or the head unit? Was working fine a couple of weeks ago.

The unit doesn't have Down Imaging. It has composite DI views created by blending the two SI pulses. The DI view is ranged by the 2D sonar, so that is why it doesn't show anything.
You can connect any type of Humminbird transducer with that plug type that has a 2D piezo to see if the 2D circuit has failed or the transducer itself. If the unit is on the console, you probably have a shoot-thru 2D transducer connected via Y cable. Disconnect the SI transducer from the Y cable and connect it directly to the display. Do the same with the shoot-thru. That should tell you if the 2D transducer has failed, the Y cable has failed or the unit itself is the issue.
