Where is the best place to find a cheap used kayak? I don't know how much I'll use one or how much I'll enjoy fishing from one, so I'm looking for minimal initial investment. Nothing suitable on classifieds here that I have seen. It doesn't have to be a very good kayak, just something for me to dip my toe in. If I like it and want to get into it, more serious investments down the road are an option, and I won't have any regrets about throwing a little money away on a lower quality boat early on.

Even if you're looking cheap you still need to get a kayak that fits you. Just buying any random kayak is almost certainly going to result in kicking it to the curb.
Roughly what is your height, weight and build?
What's your all in budget?
You get out of it what you put into it!

Like Jerry said. buy one that fits you. Houston Facebook Marketplace has lots of used kayaks, from cheap to overpriced. IslandJim

Ugh, classic kayak snob answers. I'm a regular sized human, and not willing to spend more than $250. With the full understanding and intention that if I do like it all I will kick this one to the curb and buy something more specific to my needs and tastes.

Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Many of the cheaper kayaks have low weight capacities, a good rule of thumb is to not exceed 70% of the stated weight capacity of the kayak. That's not being snobby, that's being smart.

But kayak snobs always want to put their two cents in, that's what makes them kayak snobs. My kayak snob 2 cents worth of wisdom: buy and use a PFD. Of course just like kayaks there are different types of PFD. When kayaking making wrong choices could end up costing your life. But since you have all the answers except where to buy you should be okay.
