If I release tension on my winch strap, the boat actually lifts off the roller about a half inch. So, when I did mine there was no jack required. Then again, maybe my trailer has an issue. Hmmmm

nothin wrong with that steeze I had a skeeter that did the same and I loved to unstrap it and watch it raise up nothin wrong with changing the roller at the house either. It would be hard to damage the boat or hurt yourself doing it.

Hmmmm No issue with your trailer, they are supposed to do that when you release the tension. Mine lifts up off the roller but not far enough to remove it. I just park the boat on the bank and change the roller in 5 minutes. Very easy.
