I have a Primo ceramic grill, it will do a fine job on some things, smoking is not one of them imo, the chicken I make on it is absolutely awesome, my Yoder pellet grill is my favorite toy right now.

I have 3 BGEs (2 xls and a mini max). I cook on one of them at least 4 times per week. Love them. To control temps for smokes, get a Smobot. Hands down better than any other temp controller out there. It allows the egg to aspirate naturally as it was designed. If you want more smoked meat like from an offset, use less coal a more wood. My briskets are A+. Took a year to figure them out, but now its easy.

I'll buy a BGE from whoever doesn't like theirs. L or XL, $250 and a bag of smoke pellets for your next awesome smoker. I'll replace the gasket and temp gauge, on me

I use my BGE 2 or 3 times a week and love it. For long cooks I use a Smobot and can cook a 18 hour brisket with no issues.

My dream smoker/grill is the Weber Summit Double walled steel Kamado style without insulation between the metal—perfect design, just inefficient enough to smoke well with a small hot fire. Efficient enough to burn a long time Won’t crack, break, etc. Would last several lifetimes with good care But I don’t need it, and not spending $1500 on a grill/smoker as that is half the price of my first car

Some people can control a fire some can’t. It doesn’t mean they suck at all smoking or grilling. Maybe a pellet smoker is right for you.
Smoke on!

Ive cooked on Ugly Drum Smokers, offsets, electrics (masterbuilt) and pellet, and i get consistenly great results on the pellet grill, and havnt fired up the offset one time since i got it in december. Have no trouble controlling a fire on any type of cooker, but the pellet is just so dang good.

Brisket just went on the egg. Hope my seals don't blow out. Or my temp gauge dies.

I’ve never had one, mainly because of the cost, but that’s the first negative thing I’ve heard about them I bought one. I agree with the OP. Got tired of fooling with it and sold it. I would choose my Pitboss 820 over it any day. Love my Pitboss 820 too. Not a fan of the egg type grills. Also still use a traditional heavy gauge Brinkman smoker with the offset firebox. Never burned charcoal in it only pecan and mesquite.
