Chicken,Alaska population 17..... and the town closes down in the wintertime except for the bar (which is understandable)...founders of the town wanted to name it 'Ptarmigan" after a local grouse type bird but nobody knew how to spell it so they just named it "Chicken"....picture doesn't show it but the Chicken Creek café has a big "free wifi" sign on side of building which I thought was unusual 14 years ago when I passed through there and took this picture...wife and I stopped for lunch and was really surprised to see a small room off the dining area with three computers for customers to use..I mentioned this was unusual to the manager and he said all three computers were usually occupied by customers passing through and the several motor homes/travel trailers in parking lot were using their wi-fi network also...reason being was that cell phone service at the time were scarce in this area (and along the Alaskan highway) so most people communicated with family back home by e-mail...incidentally the cheeseburger was a little expensive (about $12.00) but good...

Where everybody knows your name...

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.
