I moved to N Texas in the summer of '17. Had hoped to get to fishing sooner, but life... anyway, caught my very first LMB in Texas this morning! Had to share!

Unfortunately, my 10 year old fishing buddy (daughter) didn't do as well. She's just not into lures yet I guess. Probably going to take her later in the week with some worms and get some blue gill.

Congrats Nate!! Welcome to the forum and to Texas. My little girl had a blast using plastic worm at around age 5. I would put on a weightless Senko weedless and let her go to town casting anywhere she wanted. Once she caught a bass, she was hooked and wanted to take it more seriously.

With that said, not all girls (or kids in general) are the same. Get some worms and get her on bluegill. Next time you hook a bass, let her reel it in. That may do it!!

Either way, have fun and enjoy the moments you have. They fly by wayyyyyyy too fast!

Nice to see you get your fist bass.
Good job.
Welcome to North Texas.
Better watch out, your daughter might catch a larger bass on those worms.

Well, it wasn't worms, but using a little piece of hot dog on her bluegill set up she got this one on Saturday. Watching her bring it in on 6lb test and an ultralight rod&reel was awesome!

Nice catching. Hopefully she's hooked on fishing

PB flathead 34.5 lbs - I know it's small but it was still the record for Lake Travis when I caught it!
PB Blue 58.5 lbs jugline 43.5 lbs on R&R which was the other Lake Travis record when caught.
