With the opening of stores, restaurants, etc We've seen an about a 20% increase of Covid patients. Be careful out there.

The increased testing across the state has accounted for the increase in positive cases. Honestly in this community we have seen almost no rise whatsoever.

If you all worked at a hospital you're stance would change, believe me.

The percentage of positives per 1000 tested has continued to go down since we have reopened as well.

More testing = more cases. Its not a hard concept.

A majority of people are being pretty responsible in my area from what I can see. Also, the warm weather is helping to beat the transmission rates down (in my opinion). Frankly I think it's a win to only see a 20% increase, not that bad. I read an interesting study out of France and Spain recently. They did massive random sampling of the population (80,000 plus) and determined both countries have had about 5% of their populations infected. That gives hard hit Spain, with a older population, a true mortality rate of about 1%.

Our population density is about 60% lower, so working ratio's I would guess our total infection rate here has about about 2% of the population. that would be roughly ~6.5 million people who have been infected in this country, or 5 times what we've actually discovered in terms of confirmed cases. Work a little more math and I think that brings our fatality rate here to about .2-.5% or 2-5 times worse than the regular flu.

My main concern is my elderly parents and in-laws. They check every high risk box. My concern lies somewhere in the middle. Is there a threat ? yes. Should precautions be taken? yes. Was some of it overblown and overreacted on? yes

My wife is an L&D nurse at a major hospital-
My daughter is an ED nurse at a major hospital-
I am in the high risk group-

And I support reopening, safely.
I don’t expect the world to be a safe space for me.
Much of the reason I am in the high risk group is because of my life choices-
I don’t believe I should expect the rest of the world to destroy the way of life before Covid because I made those choices-
I/we will continue to try to be safe but this needs to evolve in whatever way it’s going to anyway and ultimately-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!
