I am adding 360 mega and was wondering if I should go with a Solix or Helix this unit will be for 360 only. I have heard the Solix has better picture. Any info is appreciated.

The "picture" is the same between the 12" models. The difference is SOLIX has touch screen and Helix doesn't.

Helix must be gen 3 for the 360 mega. I believe solix can be a gen2. Could mean something to you

If it's mega 360 only unit then you will be better off with the Helix 12 gen3

Probably need 2nd battery if u run multiple solid units with a 360..... All draw ton of power compared to a Helix

That's interesting to know. Didn't know that power draw was an issue with the Solix. I was planning on getting a Solix 15 for the bow. Looks like I'll stay with the Helix 12 on the bow...and less money.

I have a gen1 Solix 15 on the bow with 360. It pulls a lot of amps and it starts glitching on low voltage. Had to upgrade to 8 gauge wiring to mitigate voltage drop from the battery. Be sure to run dedicated cables straight from each sonar unit to the battery; do not rig them into existing circuits. My Solix's glitch every once in a while and have to be rebooted even with perfect voltage. I figure that's gen1 bugs, the gen2 probably solves much of that with a stronger processor and software updates. Touch input is nice, and the huge screen allows you to clearly see the 360, sonar and map windows simultaneously.
If you can do without touch or 15 inch screens, the Helix screen resolution is exactly the same as the Solix, it doesn't have the amp draw, and its software is very stable.

I just installed a mega 360 Wednesday and went with another Helix12. I went back and forth between the Solix and Helix and decided on the Helix.

I'd go with the Helix. The Solix draws too much power and its touch screen functionality isn't worth the expense.

A Solix unit came with my new Cat and I had a litany of issues with it, lockups, sonar recording flakiness, etc. -- think a part of it is the CPU was underpowered to run the software. Ended up knowing everybody at 'Bird support, and finally punted and sold the birds and going back to Lowrance. Helix never had any issues except from a networking perspective, had to power it up first before the Solix to be able to establish a network connection.

I went with 12" Gen 3 Helix's on the front deck w 1 for my Mega 360 and a 15" Gen 2 Solix on the drivers console- Just had the Mega 360 installed so I haven't had a lot of stick time with it but so far I'm really liking it. All my units are powered directly from the cranking battery and the software is all updated-never had any issues. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/HLpcF60P/IMG-7405.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/FF2xwQYW/IMG-3208.jpg)
