Made 2 trips on CC this weekend - one with neighbor Guy and 2nd with neighbor Ed. Here are the reports:

Trip 1: Guy and I left the dock at 9:30 AM Saturday and headed north. First stop was Dollhouse Point and there were no fish. Went on to Spillway Hump and there were a couple of boats already on it, so we checked out Game Warden Hump and no fish there. The water seemed a little more stained up north than it was last Wednesday. Went east to Enchanted Isle point in 10 fow and caught 6 there. We then went to Sunken Island and caught over 30 there in 10 fow. Went farther north to Leroy's Hump and caught a couple of dozen more. We finished up at Don's Point and caught about 6 more for a total catch of 63 whites, a legal hybrid, a cat and a nice yellow bass.

Here is map showing Sunken Island, Leroy's Hump and Don's Point.

Trip 2: Ed and I headed out at 4 PM Sunday and fished until 7:40 PM and caught 64 (54 whites, 3 legal and 1 short hybrid, 3 cats and 3 keeper yellow bass). Since lake was busy with boat traffic, we went to least busy area, which was at the mid section of the dam. We found fish at Campbell's Hump, a small hump just west of it, Dam Ridge in 20 fow and Dam Ridge in 10 fow. We finished at Drew's Humps. We both used silver #4 Mepps casting away from boat and working back along bottom. The exception was Dam Ridge in 20 fow where we fished directly above the fish lifting or reeling the Mepps straight up from the bottom.

Here's a pic of Ed with one of his hybrids:

Wednesday May 20, 2020: Took out fishing buddy Cliff and his friend Steve to catch some white bass. We were out from 8 AM to about 3 PM and caught 200 plus 4 legal and one short hybrid, and 6 cats. We started at 60 Acre Hump and found a good sized school down on the bottom in 20 fow. Caught at least 2 dozen whites there plus 2 or 3 of the hybrids. When that slowed we checked the dam are and couldn't find any. Went north and found some at Key Ranch Drop-off and Merimac Point in 10 to 15 fow. We left there with white bass count up to fifty something. The last place we found them was Game Warden Hump. As I went over it my side-scan lit up with a huge mass of fish. We anchored off to the side of them, and sat there and caught fish in 12 to 17 fow until we wanted to go home. We decided to stop at 200 whites. Left still catching them. My iPilot stopped working early in the trip, and we had to use the anchor to stay on the fish. Thanks to Phil for manning the anchor - he uses ancho a lot crappie fishing and knew how to make it work well for us. The iPilot problem turned out to be new batteries required for the remote. So, I've stowed spare batteries in the boat to be ready for the next time that happens. We caught

We caught our fish on Mepps #3 an#4 spinners, and Cliff also used some Mepps look-a-likes he made. He made a slight modification that I suggested and caught them as well as the Mepps did. Here are some pics of the our outing:

Excellent report Dennis! Looking forward to try and catch some this weekend. I'll be there for Memorial Day and I'll report back next week on how it turned out. Hopefully the rain stays away long enough that I can venture out with my 3 1/2 yr old to get on them!

Dennis is now the Official Super White Bass Whisperer! Man what a day of fellowship and catching we had. I think Steve is convinced of the Mepp's Technique.
And I was really excited about the "clones" I made and how well they worked. Ballow Tackle supplies make it possible to make baits for less than $2 each. they seem to work as good as the real thing. But I still have to work on my "skills" to ever get close to Dennis' hookup rate.

AGAIN DENNIS IS "THE WHITE BASS SUPER WHISPERER" AND THE BROTHER ANYONE IS BLESSED TO BE ABLE OT FISH WITH. His philosophy of LIFE and fishing leave us all with much to live up to.

God bless you Dennis!

Thanks from Steve and I.

Memorial Weekend fishing with Family: Number 1 grandson Sam and I went fishing Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. We caught fish at 60 Acre Hump Sunday for 2 hours and Key Ranch drop-off on Monday for 2 hours - total of 56 mostly white bass with 4 legal hybrids. We used #4 Mepps. There is a pic of Sam with nice white bass below.

I continued to have trouble with my iPilot not staying on spot-lock, so we had to use the anchor - until I figured out the problem. The foot-pedal had moved up under the front pedestal seat, and that blocked the satellite signal. The reason it took me two trips to figure that out is because I thought the satellite signal was in the head of the trolling motor. Now that problem is behind me.

On Monday afternoon my son Chris and I took my 5 yr old grandson Campbell out for a boat ride. I said I would go as fast or slow as he wanted. Slow was the word. We cruised around Saint Annes Point for about 5 minutes. Then my son asked if he would like us to catch a fish. He said yes, so I looked and immediately found a good school of fish on my side-scan. Chris and I both started catching fish. I talked Campbell into reeling in one of the fish. Then Chris caught a 17 inch hybrid. Campbell got duly excited. I said, "Would you like grandad to catch a bigger one?", and Campbell eagerly said YES. I proceeded to catch a 19 inch hybrid my next cast. Campbell really like that. Then Campbell said, "Let's eat them!" So, we stopped and headed back to dock - gone 15 minutes with 14 white bass and a hybrid. For grandad it could not have been better - a very fun trip with my son and grandson. We cleaned the fish and did eat them for supper. Some pics below.

Tuesday 5/26/2020: After all the company left I went on a scouting trip. I started at Key Ranch Drop-off and found good concentration there. Caught about 15 including two legal hybrids then moved on. Stopped at 3-Jug Hump and caught 5 there. They were smaller (10 to 12 inches) so I went to next spot.. Found them next at Spillway Point. Caught another 10 there. Next to Game Warden Hump and caught about 15 there including a 17 inch hybrid. Next went to Enchanted Isle Ridge. Found some in 19 fow and caught them working the Mepps very slow. Next stop was the Rock Pile and it was loaded with big white bass in 15 to 17 fow. Caught 10 then moved on. Final stop was Spillway Hump and could have caught them there all day. Stopped and went home when count got to 80 white bass.

On the way home I thought I would see how well the boat rode at 45 mph. It was nice and smooth. But when I got to the dock I heard this pinging sound - I had broken off my transducer going at the high speed. So, will order new one and cable.

Wednesday May 27, 2020: I invited neighbors Patrick and Guy out for an afternoon run. We left dock at 4:15. With no depth finder except its GPS mapping function, I took us to where I found fish the day before at Key Ranch Drop-off. We spot-locked there and started catching big white bass immediately. We caught fish there for 2 hours ending up with 101 mostly big white bass, 2 yellow bass, 2 cats, a 17 inch hybrid and a 19 inch hybrid. Patrick kept about 30 to clean. Here are some pics:

Thursday 5/28/2020: Spent morning transferring a Humminbird from VIP to Skeeter. Then took skeeter out for test run at 2 PM. Depth finder worked great, but still having intermittent problems with the iPilot losing spot-lock. Nevertheless, I searched and fished the south and west drop-offs around Crappie Island Flats. Found fish on the shoulders of drop-offs in 17 to 23 fow. Fished along side Fastguy and his 2 guests for a while. Fish were readily taking the #4 Mepps reeled up fast. Ended up with 100: 91 mostly big whites bass, 5 legal hybrids, 2 short hybrids and 2 cats.
