My father died on 1/15/2019. My mother got a stimulus check for $2,400. She doesn’t know if this is right since he only lived for 15 days last year and is afraid to put it in the bank. Anybody have any idea if that’s right?

I'll defer to the avice of a tax consultant, but since your Dad has been gone for over a year, I don't think the stimulus was intended to help him. Your Mom though should get $1200.00. If the check is made out to both parties, typically, both have to sign it. I know this was the case when my wife and I used to get a real check made out to both of us since we filed jointly.
I know this, the SS Administration will come after any SS benefit paid after a claimant is deceased. My Dad got a SS check auto deposited into his bank a few days after he passed away. I left it in his checking account and left the account active for a year and a few months. Then I finally just closed it out. Sure enough close to 2 years after he passed, the SS Admin charged the Bank for that money back to them. In turn, I had to pay the bank then.

They will take half of it back eventually. It is for 2020 Covid-19 relief, nothing to do with 2019...
