Are they good to eat? I've never heard anyone mention them as table fare. I personally do not eat them but I have friends who do. They have all said that Rios are pretty good eaten.

if you can catch one big enough to eat, they have a slightly denser, slightly more oily, meat than a bluegill.
You can catch them by the dozens in any of the downtown creeks in Austin, although most won't be more than a few inches. The rio-getter fly does what it advertises.

If you fish moving waters from North Austin south and/or west, you will find Rios eventually.
