In 2038 to maybe 2043 Lake Austin will return to its glory and start pumping out DD’s and 16+ pound bass again.

Lake Austin would've put an 18+ out in my opinion. It was headed up in a tremendous curve.
As stated... Lots of fish around the country get to 15-16 lbs outside of California. An 18+ is a genetic anomaly and needs pretty much perfect environment to even get to that number. We've had 1 actually caught by someone and that fish was around crappie. It's not like he caught it out bass fishing. It's just not going to happen. I could see the state going through a cycle of a bunch of 13-14lbers but an 18+ isn't happening

reviewing Texas top ten, the list has not changed since 1997 (16.77). Need to look at number of Share a Lunker (13 pounds plus) listed the previous ten year, see if a trend emerges in rate of big bass caught. It seems Texas has seen more 13 plus caught this year than previous years. I don't have the data backing this statement. If more 13, 14, 15 pounders have been caught it supports the fishery health and potential of a 16.77 or even an 18.20. We had better electronics and equipment back then!

These fast boats scare the fish.
