Decided to load up the yak and go try some new waters I found on Google Earth recently. Headed for Alice, Tx and fished their little city lake, Findley Lake.
Was more than a little worried when I popped over the dam and saw the water was like 3-4 foot low. Now this is on a little lake where the deepest water at full level is only 6-8 ft. As low as the lake was I almost scrapped the plan and headed for Mathis but decided what the heck and launched anyway. Looking out across the lake all i could see was grass beds in 2-4 foot of water. Paddled around for a bit to do some scouting and finally settled in on a bank that led to the mouth of the creek that feeds the lake. Started catching fish after fish on bling flukes, frogs and whacky worms. Ended up catching 16 bass and was off the water by noon.
This is why I left power boats and took to kayak fishing. There is no friggin way anyone would get a boat on this lake.
It was a fun Sunday morning on some new waters.

Yep, I agree 100%... I don't miss my bass boat one bit.

Looks like you found a nice honey hole. Enjoy!
