While walking in the shallows this morning, look what I found. These mounds were all over the place. Be carefull, if you touch your boat or anything to them they will attack. I was Bow Fishing and I had to be carefull not to walk in to a mound. Pro Guide Larry Warnack 469-951-5281 Hunt Fish Shoot Guide Service Huntfishshootntexas@yahoo.com Huntfishshootntexas.com

I shot a Buffalo and while fighting him in, he took the line through a mound..The little red rats came back with the line on to the reel. I keep hornet spray on the boat and it was good to have today. I had to spray the reel with it. When they float in mounds, they are in a pissed type of mood
Can we keep him as a pet ??

If I was an ant and with my luck, I would be the one on the bottom of that "float".

I camped on the dam on Ray Roberts around 1989 as the lake was filling up. Due to lake rising, the ants around the banks were unbearable, so we decided do put our lawn chairs in the water and stay the night in the water. It wasn't until the next morning and lots of bites later that we realized we also surrounded there by those floating mounds. At least we caught a bunch of fish.

I saw a little boy in a diaper sit on one of those at the edge of a swim area. I hurt for him. By the time his parents could get his diaper off and him in the water, it was too late. He was already bitten all over. Absolutely horrible..
If I remove the poison dart, could you please, please suck out the poison???

a little 2-stroke gas & a match. Fight fire w/ fire! that would be an excellent photo...... hate those little Bass-terds! those floating "mounds" are actually rafts of solid fire ants even en masse they won't break the surface tension of water as the pic shows, they put the eggs/larvae on top, then take turns covering them w/ their bodies and going back to the bottom to hold them all together. pretty interesting, actually. No, they're not. Ask a biologist about the effect of fire ants on native species, such as red ants. Why do you think horned toads are so scarce?
