Is there an aftermarket deep spool for the Chronarch MGL? I launched my swim bait clean off the spool today. Luckily my partner cranked over my line and we recovered my bait. Is their such a product?
If you can't find em wind em.

If you are throwing a heavy bait on that reel, you are going to tear it up in due time. This is the case for any "regular duty" model reel; I'm not picking on that particular reel. You should move up to a larger heavy duty reel - those will have a true anti-reverse pawl in addition to the anti-reverse clutch bearing that will be destroyed. If you want an inexpensive option, the Cardiff 300 is good of fishing with braid. For large diameter lines, the Cardiff 400 is a better fit.

I know i-Fish was talking swim bait and those things get huge. Thanks

I'm with Ken, I use a Lews super duty wide spool for larger swim baits that are 2oz. or larger.

Thanks I agree with the other two who commented, and I view that anything above 2 ounces is going to start taking a toll on a reel that might otherwise last MUCH longer. The Super Duty would be a nice in-between option. I don't like the Tranx due to it's high weight.

That's the only problem with many of the lightweight reels. The Chronarch MGL holds 90 yds of 14. If you put 20 on it you are down to about 50 yds IF you fill it all the way. 90% of the guys I fish only fill their reels about 75%. You may have 40 yards on your reel then if you break off or retie a few times you are down below that. If you launched your swimbait off the spool you most lilely had less than 40 yds on your reel. 40 yds is still a long cast for most.
I realize this is an expensive reel but this is what I prefer. Daiwa Steez A TW
It is extremely light, has a deep spool and holds enough line to suit me- 100 yds of 16#
However this reel is not designed to handle 2 oz plus baits. You will damage the anit-reverse pawl. If you're going to be throwing heavy baits you really should think about a technique specific reel like the Lews SD.

Added: The NEW Lew's Super Duty 300 line capacity is 190/14 mono.
All good suggestions above.
Good Luck.
