The brand name on the graph. Side imaging is Humminbird and structure scan is Lowrance.

I've always thought structure scan was a category that included side imaging and down imaging. A lot of graphs had descriptions that say includes 2d sonar and structure scan, and the structure scan included side and down imaging.

Side scan images to the side of the boat. Down imaging is underneath. Lowrance and hummingbird have both options on there graph
