I’m sure this topics been neat to death on here, but how much top end speed have y’all lost from adding dual power poles?
I noticed a difference after I added dual 8ft blades, but curious what y’all think.

It is unfortunate, but these yahoos don't know what a power pole is. Mine came with the boat so I have no idea.

I have two Talons which are a little heavier. By myself I don't think it lost anything. It still runs about 71. With my tournament partner and his gear I'm only getting 67-68. I think they effect different hulls differently.

Since mine came with the boat, I don’t know for sure but that’s the wrong place to add weight for your hole shot. As far as drag, I’m guessing the blades subtract 1-2 mph.

I'm sure if you buy a high dollar prop and spend even more money getting it "dialed in" and then spend even more money on a hydraulic jack plate you just might get that extra 2 to 3 mph that you might lose.

Whatever you lose in top-end speed is made up 10 times over in improved fishing.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Seriously, speed would be the least of my concerns, power poles are awesome. Had no idea dual poles would slow down a boat much, but most times were on Bay boats so probably different hulls/performance.

On a high performance boat, I would estimate 2 mph. Also, if you are running at hyper speeds, you will notice some handling changes. Nothing severe or dangerous, just a little balance issues on pad to consider. They are worth the change.

I know one thing it’s sure hard to get on plane with power poles down. I’ve tried it more than once. But doesn’t get you as wet as leaving the trolling motor down.
Thanks, Billy
