I too have been told by an Evinrude mechanic that OMC’s had too lower the compression on 1 or 2 cylinders on some of their Intruder and Fast Strike models because they were putting out more HP than the advertised rating. This was back in the day when BASS would only allow a maximum HP of 150 on the boats. OMC got busted for putting out too much HP. Some those 150’s would scream especially compared to these 4 Stroke [censored] they are making now.
