Want to go to Texhoma on Saturday. I have never been and want to know best ramp to launch. I am new to Texas and live in North Texas (Savannah/Prosper area) How long will it take me to get there.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice

Less than an hour. There are dozens of boat ramps. This lake covers about 93,000 acres. Closest to you is probably Eisenhower State Park area. I think there is a public ramp at the south end of the dam where you can launch without having to pay the park fee. Just North across the dam from that is Burns Run on the Oklahoma side. There are a couple of ramps on Hwy 377 that I used years ago that were nice.

If you are fishing, Texoma requires you to buy a Texoma Fishing License, $12 I think, that is only good on that one lake.

Wal Mart, Academy, or online. If coming up from Prosper take 289 north through Pottsboro to Highport Road. There is a store at that intersection and they can sell you a Texoma license.

Texoma is a great lake, huge lmb, smb and striped bass. High port is a good place to launch. Might remind you of the Delta when you hook a teen plus striped bass on accident. It's a rock and ledge pattern main lake, docks and marinas in coves. PM me if you want a head start.

A Texas fishing license is sufficient as long as you don't cross the river. That begging said, if you're not familiar with where the river channel runs you're definitely better off buying the Texoma license just to be safe. Grew up fishing the lake and it's still one of my favorites. Can get your arms pulled out of socket by some of those crazy acrobatic smb. Haven't been up there recently but I did hear that the Highport side had been more consistent then the Eisenhower side over the past week.

Went to our Texoma lakehouse this weekend...Prefished and made exactly 1 cast Friday afternoon then stopped....Big girls still staging and some on beds.

Launch at the dam, no issues Delta...

And it is called TEXOMA.....I still correct my Dad, he still does the "Tex - a - homa" thing after at least 50 corrections...I think he does it to tick me off now... lolol....

Hello everyone! I am brand new to Texas as well. Living North of DFW airport. QUESTION: Is it worthwhile to fish the bank in Eisenhower State Park? I don't mind a little drive if access is decent and chance to catch a few nice fish is possible...Thoughts??
