i caught this monster out of the red river, but this is nothing compared to what we hook up in this river usually especially with combination of floodgates and generators in full force. i seen fish between 35 to 100 pounders being pulled out of there lately i lost one that i couldnt even turn theyre heads at all. cut bait works the best out here.

Yea striper king there are some good fish being caught. I was there last mnght as well same place as you. I caught a 54.70, 31.40 and a 26.78 were my biggest three. I lost a couple of more in that same range. I live released all of mine because I am hoping to get people to start releasing at least some of the large ones so that more people have the chance of hooking a fish of a lifetime. It takes right at 20 years to grow a 50lb blue in the river. It is your right to keep your legal limit and I have no problem and happy for people and even help them land some giants I know are not going back. I just hope everyone understands how much of an affect in these special situations like last night and the next few days we as fisherman can have on the big cats in the river. I choose to release thats my choice and I in no way expect you to do the same but I can hope that a few people will. Catch and release has worked wonders on Bass and Red fish and if as fisherman apply the same to big blues imagine what we will have in the near future. Good job on the catch and good luck next time.

I don't think I would keep anything over 10 lbs.; I mean really, how much fish do you need in your freezer? Plus from what I hear, the larger ones don't taste all that great. I was fishing the TX side today using strips of cut shad and only managed a few channel cats and a couple smaller blues; mind if I ask what you guys were using? Whole live shad? If so, how big? I would love to get into one of those huge blues; I've never caught anything close to that big!

sick em Albert....sick em.

I don't care either way as long as you obey the law...do as you wish!

I don't catch many big bluecats but I have eaten a few in the 40 lb range and they were great. I have cut into a slight few from Lake Palestine that were fatty but only about 1% of the blues I've caught.
I'm glad to have this comment come up because it gives me something to find humor in....that is "eaters".
Eaters is a personal opinion and that's why I love my country. You have every right to your own opinion.

Albert...I think you and I may get along just fine,,,LOL I got into cats cause the dang bass fishermen took all the fun out of that sport. Keep'em if you wish pitch'em back if you want. But you will take my big cat when you pry it from my cold dead fingers!!!!! (What the heck that slogan worked for the NRA why not me)

Albertking,
I see your still on beercanridge, to bad you have never come down to sober valley. I understand why you do not cpr anything because you have to catch something first.(HAHA) Keep what you want within the law and all is fine. I just choose to let the big ones go because I do not have the need to keep 7 or 8 fish over 20lbs in one day so that I can pump my chest.

Mudshark,
Careful if the cat is big enough he just might take your fingers with him and by the way I would never try and take a mans fish it is his choice to keep or release. I just ask that people only take what they can eat so that in a year the wife is not throwing out freezer burnt fish.

mind yer own business ... you CPR nuts (does that sound better than nazis) are just like the government

i guess everytime somebody post the pics of a big fish i need to post a reply like this here

Quote:
"nice fish ... did you clean it & put in the deep freeze ... man alive i sure hope you did ... you know we need to practice CPE (catch photo & eat) ... i alway CPE myself ... but i would never be the one to tell you what to do with yer fish ... as long as you are legal ... have a nice day"
