Any good slab makers on the forum? Just received a batch that have no coating over the holographic stickers and can already see them peeling off.

MT Pockets or RSR builds slabs, flies, jigs with or without dropped eye etc. Fast service and very reliable , most of all they catch fish.

I have used the clear 5 min epoxy for years to coat slabs and big offshore lures. Just buy a bunch of cheap artist paint brushes and go to town. Usually loose the lures before I can wear the epoxy coating off. I think "gorilla glue" brand was the clear epoxy, the amber colored epoxies mask the original colors too much (for my likes)

Big fan of RSR Lures products here. They have never let me Down. The owner, Phillip Walker is a great guy also and all his products are made with American components. Hard to beat..

Bob Maindale of Holding the Line Guide Service. They come in three sizes and one color, white. All they do is catch fish.

Our worst issue at PK is trees. I use RSR jigs and love them. When slabbing at PK i use Bomber slabs and cheap pipe cleaner jigs. We need hooks that will straighten out or give. The trees claim strong hooks every time.
If i was fishing Texoma or Whitney i would fish top quality slabs with strong hooks and flies with strong hooks.
At lakes with trees a slab has about a three hour life expectancy.....maybe.
I guess what I am saying is there a time for good slabs with great hooks and good coatings but there is also a place and time for expendable cheap lures.
Something to think about.

Although we don't do a lot of holographic patterns, I do make a living using these slabs. They have a UV clear coat so that fish can see them better and the paint doesn't chip. We also use 4X VMC hooks and they are made in Texas. www.constantpursuitoutfitters.com ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/04/full-22219-48446-img_6049.jpg)

I got a mold to make them myself. Saves some money and I get lead from a metal recycler. Finding lead to buy was my biggest challenge but now I got that issue done with. In the old days you could buy lead at plumbing supply stores. I guess the politically correct idiots are going to make it impossible some day. Their answer is to outlaw everything they disagree with. Why they cannot just let everyone alone? In my bass fishing days I made several different jig heads for fishing that I liked better than the ones you could buy at the store. Making your own slabs is a very easy process with gathering the materials being the long pole in the process.

OIe Ugly Slabs. https://www.johnnysguideservice.com/ole-ugly-slabs/I've been using these for years now. I purchased 12 over 3 years ago and have literally caught hundreds of fish on them and they are just now starting to lose a little paint. Highly recommend!!!

Thanks for the information! Ordered some from RSR. I have used his before and they work well. Probably will order some ole Uglies too. The ones I have are from MT tackle, a little epoxy coating and they will be good to go. I used to make slabs but donโt feel like messing with lead anymore.

this is a copy of a p.m. i sent to you 4/22 and it still has not been read or addressed
I have been making and selling these slabs for over 12 years. I also deal with 30 to 40 guides that use these same slabs the way they are received. In all this time I have NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT OR RETURN of any of the slabs I have made. Most of my customers (99%) will lose these slabs before there is any sign of slipping or pealing of the decal. The glue used on the stickers and decals is of a special WATER PROOF FORMULA that I pay extra for. As per my guarantee if you are UNHAPPY with your order for any reason, I will replace it or refund the entire purchase price no questions asked
