The State Parks will reopen by order of the governor on Monday, but unfortunately you are required to wear masks. I really think the mask requirement is a little much for these wide open spaces like State Parks. At some point the Governor needs to let us make our own decisions. I personally wear a mask when I go to the store but have no desire to wear one while fishing.

Please join me on contacting Governor Abbott and ask him to get rid of the mask requirement for state parks:

I do the think you have to wear a mask while fishing by yourself in a boat.

Grab a buff and put it on if you're roaming around the park or at launch and be glad you're fishing. Fairly certain that our governor has more pressing things at the moment than dealing with emails from grumpy anglers. Unreal.

I agree with Mark. I wear a sun buff the 6 to 8 hours I'm on the water. Having to wear it for 10 to 15 minutes at the ramp is a small inconvenience. Do I think its absolutely needed, NO, but if this will get me back on the water when I want then I'm willing to do it. Besides no one wants to look at my ugly mug more than necessary.

Buffs are a better option than slathering oneself with sunscreen. COVID just means I don't have to take mine off when I gas up or go into the grocery store.

Wearing a mask in a wide open space should be a personal choice. I have done it on really bad allergy days. If you want to wear something for sun protection than that is your choice. I just don't think the Governor should be able to order all of us to use a mask is a sparsely populated park that our tax dollars paid for.

If you agree with me let Governor Abbott know:

Do you think he reads them himself? He has a staff....which our tax dollars pay for....to register our opinion. Writing him is just giving some recent college grad a job. Any elected official has the duty to receive communication from their constituents.

Or do you think he should only listen to high paid lobbyist? I promise they are there every day. It is your constitutional right to write, call, or visit your elected officials.

Kind of like the 6 calls to his office I made this week, 2 of which were answered by an operator, then transferred to a voicemail.

I’ll wear a buff and be happy to be fishing!

You actually got through? All it ever did for me was ring & ring.

I agree, a buff is better than sitting at home with my thumb up my rear all weekend.
