I have an old Blue Wave 22 foot center console. I am considering upgrading to a Minnkota Ulterra with all the bells and whistles that will interface with my Humminbird 899. I have an old Motor Guide 36 volt motor that must be near 30 years old, still works fine but not sure it has the full 112 pounds or whatever it supposedly had out of the box. If I get the 24 volt/ 80 pound Ulterra, is that going to be enough power? The 36 volt Ulterra is a back order item according to the sites i have researched whereas the 24/80 is in stock.

I have a24v minnkota on my 22 bluewave and it has no issue holding gps anchor at the coast.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

With a center console I would stay with the 36v, plus you are already wired for it. Since yours is still working I would wait it out. You can go ahead and run your network cables if you haven't already while you wait....

Get the 36 volt and also get the 72 inch shaft. The power of the new minn kota motors will really spin hard when they come out of the water putting stress on the mounting screws. You can always adjust the height for shallow water.
