Is that I got too much free time to buy stuff. Just ordered SonarSock's for my two Helix units.

YouTube Review

I'll leave a update here as well when they come in.

Sidenote: The Youtube reviewer is Chad Ferguson. I and another friend hired him as a catfish guide 20 years ago. We fished out of a small metal AllWeld boat. Caught zero fish. Afterwards, I told my friend I hope Chad doesn't quit his day job. I just recently found his YouTube channel. Drives a nice SeaArk, has his own excellent line of catfish gear, and quite of few sponsors. Glad to see he was able to follow the dream. He used to post here in the Catfish section but rarely see him here any more.

You are talking about Chad a.k.a. Rednecktexan used to be his screen name back when I first joined the TFF back in 2003.
He knew his stuff even back then, and was just breaking into the guide business.

Just one more cast!

Ahhh Chad, Good guy,

Even miss the yearly desk calander pad he gave me each year, even in 2002 he was trying hard to make the life style change, glad he did it.

Yep, Chad's come a long way over the years. We discussed how to make his catfish soap bait and how it might be possible to get it to float. Sadly, he doesn't have time to make the soap anymore, as he is stretched pretty thin nowadays.

That reminds me, I need to dig thru the data to discuss that bit with the current soap maker from a year or so ago (here on TFF). I was about to test it out in 2018, but high winds prevailed & never got to give it a good testing. If not mistaken, none of the different flavors floated.

When I fished Lake Corpus (Lake Mathis) back in the summer of 1979 camping at a KOA Campgrounds on the east side of the lake, I had lines set up above on the river. They had cakes of catfish soap there at the KOA store. I caught a many of Blues, and some fair Channels off of that floating soap. I attributed it to the fact that it floats & probably jiggles in the underwater current, just off the bottom. And that is why it caught the most of any current soaps (in the last 40 years).

In 2003 ahead of the Turkey Trip, we caught the most I had ever done, on Chad's, but developed boat motor problems due to a storm rolling it over, as we were stuck on the other side of Lake Limestone. So hopping on with Darrell (Owner of Running Branch Marina), I was not able to perform the contest of perch versus soap, to see how well the soap would do.

Furgueson used to guide my lake years back. He has always been willing to answer any of my questions or give advice when I needed it. He is a heck of an ambassador to catfishing no doubt. I’ve never fished with hm but not a lot of guys with that kind of experience will take the time to help out a guy like me unless you pay em. His website catfishedge is one of the better catfishing websites out there. Big fan of Whisker Seeker too!

Now the problem with this quarantine is...I keep breaking or loosing my stuff. First my helix broke down, then my Min Kota twice, and last trip I left my fancy fishing jacket in the boat while driving down the highway. It’s always something...Fishin b $pen$ive but it sure is fun! bang hammer taz

There is a fine line between fishing and floating around like an idiot!!

Man I know the feeling. I’ve been doing a lot of retying lines for the rivers, building jugs, and just got new rod and reel in the mail this evening. Running out of fishing projects.
