What is everyone's take on rain? I have heard rain hurts your chances of catching for up to two days. On the other hand, during a light rain I caught up to a dozen in less than 20 mins. Then again, it was a retention pond that never had any pressure on it before.

Will rain hurt my chances of catching? Or, like any other factor I should adjust to the situation?

Always love the rain especially here in south central Texas. Proper rainfall keeps the water bodies in good condition. As for fishing, I have caught plenty of fish in rainy weather. I prefer fishing between showers however I have fished a lot during down pours. I have caught plenty of nice fish while it was raining . I prefer fishing in dry conditions. Over all rain is a very good thing and in my opinion it does not really affect the bite. Fishing during a strong storm is another story. That is something I would not do! coolio

I think that was the answer I was looking for. Rain should not stop me from me from fishing. I am grateful for the rain we are getting here in the DFW. Should bring a good spawn.

Rain not flooding is always a good thing! I have caught plenty of nice fish during the rain. As stated already I would not even attempt to fish in a storm.

I have found that weather conditions, like rain, can give you some indication of fishing success, however, I have caught fish during almost all weather conditions. In addition, I have fished on days that should be excellent days to fish and I have not been able to get a nibble. For me, I fishing when I can, if it is safe.

Caught many of fish in the rain over the years. Fish are going to feed weather it rains or not. I try to fish around or between showers. I never go out during severe storms. I pay very close attention to the weather forecast. thumb

Side Note: If there is a chance a shower or two is in the area, I will always pack the trusty RAIN GEAR ! cheers

Well, post rain was not great for us. At least, not immediately post rain. Typically fishing in the rain is normally a solid bite this time of year as long as itโ€™s not a downpour. The longer after the storm, the better the bite will become.
