Try something that will suprize you. Use a small strip of bacon as a drop shot bait. The thick slice works best.
Cut a strip about 3/8 x 4 "

3 inch piece of red Twizzlers works even better. Stays on the hook good too!

Remenber how good pork rind baits worked. I guess they would bite a turd if in mode. not that I would want to bait up with one

My grandsons technique for bass fishing: Him and buddies ride bikes down to the walking trail pond. Park bikes, throw out a chunk of hot dog and rest the rod with slack line against the bike, goof off and maybe swing out into the pond from the branches of the willow tree, and when the line twitches run to the rod and set the hook. I watched him catch a 1, a 2, and a 3.5 lber while I was diligently fishing a little surface bait, crank bait and a Senco. I did catch one small bullhead. He doesn't see the need for all the fancy fishing tackle.

I like their style of fishing. Sounds like we use to do it when I was a kid with crawdads, minnows and earthworms.

Maybe hot dogs will or should be part of those monthly Mystery Tackle Boxes roflmao

I've been fishing minnows on a drop shot for a while now. If there is a bass in the area, they will hit it. True, you can't use in tournaments, but for fun fishing, it works more often than not.
