I don't like this lake one little bit. I can not for the life of me catch a good stringer of fish. I fished for four hours today and only caught like ten crappie. Only one of those was a keeper, but I let it go for another day. I did see the same guy I saw Sunday with a mess of crappie. I guess he's a guid or something. Any how, the water is pretty muddy on the river side and real stained every where else. The lake looked like it had come up at least four feet since last Sunday. The water temp was around 76 at the surface. I even tried fishing for some blacks, but here again no takers. I haven't launched my boat on this lake in over two years, and after today it will probabaly be another two years or longer before I do it again. I suck when it comes to fishing this lake. Maybe one of these days I'll stumble up on some fish and have a some what good day who knows.

Don't give up. Granger is very productive if you locate the structure. Keep in mind that the lake is up 4 feet so you have to adjust to structure that is now in 10 to 12 foot. I fished this afternoon for 3 hours caught 53 and had 38 keepers. Put in the effort and the fish will cooperate.

Then you may have seen me out there running from one end of the lake to the other and back and forth trying to find some fish. I have a bright blue Ranger. I spent about as much time trying to locate some structure as I did fishing.

I fished this afternoon for 3 hours caught 53 and had 38 keepers.
What did I tell ya, see I realy do suck on this lake. I may figure it out one of these days.

The veterans of this lake have spent days, weeks if not years scouting. Granger is just not a lake that you can go out without any planning and catch a limit on during the summer. As already stated, the high water is effecting the bite. Looks like some more water may be on the way to the lake.

As of this post, G-Town just picked up 2.5" and counting in the brief line of T-showers this morning. Wonder where the run off will be heading? bang

I understand about spending time on the water. It took me several years to locate a good bite for blacks on Somerville. A lot folks get skunked on it too. You just have to fish it long enough to figure out where the fish like to hang out.

I've never really fished for crappie, so this year in the past two months I've learned a lot about these little creatures. And with a little more time on the water I think I might be able to get it down. I know you have fish structure if you intend to catch a limit. And the more structure you know about the better. That way you can move from one to the other through out the day.
