I came across this earlier and people highly pissed over this. The way I look at it, the employees should be thankful they’ve still got a job. My neighbor has been calling Texas Workforce, everyday, for the past 3 weeks and has yet to speak to someone.

I agree. It's hard to be "thankful" when taking a 20% hit while working the same amount of hours (and possibly more than before). However, they should be grateful that they still have a job and recognize that this should be over relatively soon.

The hourly workers probably took a much bigger hit by way of reduced hours.

well there goes any benefit from their 1,200.00

while they should be glad to have a job, if bps/cabelas is working them full time they should remain at full pay.
cut non essential jobs like hrly and part time for now with a promise to bring them back asap, hrly can reap the bennies from the new unemployment package, probably make more short term any way with the added 600 a week

Money doesnt grow on trees, money gets created by effort and a viable economy. Some who have had jobs with a nameless faceless payment direct deposited in their accounts for a long time are gonna be in for a rude awakening.

Salaried employees can take reductions in pay for any reason. They're still required to put in the same work that they do when they are at their preferred rate.

And yes, they should be lucky to have a job at all. Tons of people are being laid off permanently and businesses are closing.
My wife works in a medical career field but still a small business. They were poised to close their doors for 2 months laying everyone off. Then reconsidered and were only going to lay off 50% of their workforce. Eventually, they landed on everyone reducing hours to 32 which maintains their benefits. And then they created 2 teams. The teams alternate weeks where they come in or shelter in place.

It's times like these that we can be thankful for what we have.
Stay safe!

It's just business at this point. I just took a 25% salary cut, bonus program suspension, and no 401K contribution. I am very thankful I am still employed, as are our crews that just took a 15% across the board pay cut, bonuses were cut in half for them, and nearly everyone was demoted at least one position. The 800+ we laid off would love to have had a 20% cut versus the 100% cut they got. It's tough times, and you just have to buckle down and you will find out what is needed vs. wanted.

Unless you happen to be in one of the few industries that is booming right now, some variation of this is coming to just about everyone. What's in that letter is fairly standard. A furlough is better than a pay cut though. They accomplish the same thing but at least you get time off with the furlough.

Right now the tackle and gun business is very good. Ole Johnny is taking advantage of the situation.

I worked a 7 on 7 off schedule for years, I loved it.

I worked at a place years ago that resorted to that at a very slow time. I can't remember exactly how it worked but we were able to draw unemployment on the weeks we were off.
