I won't get it and the government can kiss my arse. Same. I won't see a dime but I'm "furloughed"...after I personally laid off 60+ humans with families and rent etc. They should qualify, I pray they do. Me? I can hold my own, but many of my wonderful folks live tip out to tip out... $1200 is great, that'll help for service industry folks for a week. However its not going to even slow the wave of economic depression impact that we're going to see. They also get the extra 600 bones a week in unemployment benefits. I'm sure most of your 60+ humans qualify. That's 1100 a week in unemployment if they qualify for max benies....which they likely do. I'm more worried that when things ramp back up, there will be a lot of workers a little less than eager to go back to the job. Some people are going to be paid more to stay home.....that will have an economic depression impact

"Washington – As the coronavirus emergency pushes the unemployment rate to historic heights, Congress is rushing to give the jobless an unprecedented amount of money to help them cope. The massive stimulus bill approved by the Senate and now before the U.S. House would give unemployed workers an additional $600 a week in benefits, above what they are eligible to receive from their state. Those increased benefits would continue for the next four months." https://ctmirror.org/2020/03/26/heres-how-coronavirus-rescue-bill-boosts-unemployment-benefits/

Normally this would bother me but since the government put them out of work and wont let them return to work then why the hell not.

IRS pushed the filing deadline to July 15th. Any money I may receive as a "stimulus" gets signed right back to the IRS.

Wow, Ms K brought out the usual crazies. I was dirt poor for a good part of my life. Any benefit, government or otherwise, would have been most welcome. It baffles me that so many commentors are so callous--without offering any alternate solutions.
I recently learned about the "Bunker". I have been curious about it and thought I might like to participate some day. Now, I think not--I suspect its purpose might be to keep toxic discussion contained rather than allowing free wheeling and productive political discourse to flourish.

I'll bet when taxes roll around next year they take the 1200 back.

I'll bet when taxes roll around next year they take the 1200 back. We'll still be in recovery mode so doubt that there would be any take back. More likely more bail out, delayed payments or forgiven pay backs.

I've never understood the "you can't raise a family on minimum wage" argument.
Minimum wage was never intended and shouldn't be something that you raise a family on. It's unskilled labor/work for kids and people just starting out. If you are a kid and/or are just starting out, DON'T BREED. If you have 5-10 years of experience in any industry, you shouldn't be making minimum wage and if you are then you need to look inside and not to the government to save you. Of course, there are extraneous circumstances, but on the whole I this is a total BS "argument".

The reality is many people just don't have the mental ability, motivation or physical ability to advance at all, or very far.
