I am starting to experience some play in my steering over the last couple weeks along with some stickiness in the wheel like it’s jumping and not turning smooth. Thought it might need some more fluid so I opened the fill cap and fluid started running out so I closed it. The boat is at an angle in the drive way so not sure if that had anything to do with or not. Just trying to figure out how to fix this issue. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like you need to bleed the system. check out some you tube videos and then get a buddy to help you. really hard to do by yourself.

Will do. Will any hydraulic fluid work or just the seastar fluid? Amazon can’t get the seastar fluid here for about a month

The symptoms you describe are classic for air in the system. Read the manual for the Teleflex SeaStar steering system. If you don't have that, use an internet search engine to find it. I think Teleflex has all manuals available on their website. The manual will discuss approved fluid options.

Check all the seals to make sure you do not have a leak. We changed the seals on my boat and like said above check to make sure you do it correctly or the air is a bugger to get out.

Use the correct fluid or you’ll have bigger issues later.
