Learn to spell? That's the best you got? Slayer, your argument for killing all the snakes is not exactly intelligent. So why rip somebody for a couple typos? How about some facts and figures on just how dangerous these murderous snakes are so we can all learn why they need to be exterminated?

Do you own a gun, Slayer? What if I said, "Slayer's house is just dangerous. I swear I tried to sneak in there the other night and raid his fridge. I think I heard a pistol cocking. I think Slayer should be shot. It's too dangerous going to where he lives and eating his food. I tried to watch his T.V. and he threatened to shoot me! I'm going back tonight with my Uzi."

By the way, if you own a gun, you're 75,000 times more likely to accidently shoot yourself.

All those snakes you killed- they weren't after you. They were just minding their own business. You walked up there where they lived and killed an animal that had no intention of harming you. Brave man.

It takes a real big man to kill a snake. Doesn't it take a bigger man to leave a place like he found it? There's more than just a lake. There's an ecosystem. What gives you the right to go in there and f*** it up? Fear? Do you own a car, Slayer? Do you drive it? The odds of DYING in a car wreck are 1 in 84 people. The odds of dying from a snakebite are 1 or 2 out of 23,500,000 according to Spiny's stat up there. So you're almost 300 times more likely to die from lightning- 280,000 times more likely to die on the road. The reason I hunt and fish is because I love the outdoors. I don't go out there to be The King of All Creation by killing everything that could possibly threaten me. Chances are you don't even know anybody that has ever been bitten much less come close to death. I understand, you're just doing what you were taught to do. But that doesn't fly anymore. We know now that killing snakes is for dumba**es. So just consider stopping.

It is funny how people will kill a snake, but, run like hell if they see a gator. Because they know that snake can't hurt them, but that gator will rip his head off if he pulls a gun on him.

If you're hunting snakes to eat, that doesn't bother me a bit. I've eaten rattlesnake and it's pretty good.

heres an interesting incident, when i was a kid 10 or 12 years old or so, my unc would walk around our pond once a month at night and shoot every snake he could find, this went on for about 2 years(while he lived there) out of those two years, i never was able to find a dead moccasin, every time he went out he was killing non poisonous water snakes, i wasnt gonna argue for i was a kid then, but now ive got a little more age and education, and soon to come, i will have a degree on my side to back up my case. so keep killing your snakes all you haters, because that mindset is coming to an end.

"That mindset is coming to an end?" WHat are you going to do? Become President or God and make everyone stop? A degree does not mean as much as you think it will. I have my degree and it was one of the easiest things that I have ever accomplished in my life. I recieved a bada$$ promotion at work, but it was not because I had my degree, it was because I was willing to work my a$$ off. That is true for everyone else that I know with a degree(that even has a job) so, please, spare us all and quit flaunting your degree around because there are hundreds of thousands of us each year who achieve that same degree that you are talking about.

I do understand your point but, my best friend was bit bya water moc. one day while we were out fishing. He did nothing to provoke the attack either. He was simply putting a fish into the water when the snake attacked him. I was there, I saw it take place. Fortunatly, he did not die. I was also chased by a water moc. as a child while fishing one day on the Brazos at my grandfathers cabin. Both instances scared the s*#t out of me and after these two instaces, I will shoot a snake in the water anyday. Also, my family raises chickens. Whenever you go into a nest to gather eggs and a chicken snake attemts to strike at you, you get different feelings for them also. Other than that, I will catch a snake in a heartbeat to observe it. I will not harm the snake. I will relocate it away from my house if necessary. I hope that my argument is more intelligent for you now. Happy days fishing to you and Tony.

I've only killed one snake in my life - a small moccasin in our camp that was about 6" from my bare foot (wear shoes!). I'm sorry that I did it, but it seemed necessary at the time. Also, like FishSlayer says, killing snakes around livestock is permissible (we have chickens, too, and I will kill possums to protect them). Other than that, killing snakes, or any animal for that matter, should only be done when absolutely necessary or you're gonna eat it.

I don't know if yall have ever been bitten by a non poisonous snake or not but for those of you that have you know that it really is painless. Maybe a large chicken snake or rat snake will give you a little zing and a little blood maybe even have to pluck a few of the snakes teeth from your arm.......sounds alot worse than it really is but hell i'd rather take a snake bite than have to walk through a briar patch any day. As a kid I grew up in south florida and have had every species of snake from that area as a pet at one time or another. I have even had a couple of diamondbacks, a coral snake and a baby watermocassin as a pet. I never handled the poisonous snakes and they were caged with a lock on them. All snakes bite in fear including a water mocassin......although they will chase you, but belive it or not if you stop and stand still they will not bite you.

im not saying im going to put an end to it and i agree, a degree is not everything, my degree is not even going to make me any money, im getting it purely for pleasure. "this mindset is coming to an end" simply points to the fact that my generation is alot more open to environmental stewardship, and more of us realize the importance of conservation, and doing what is RIGHT. there are less and less people everyday that believe "a good snake is a dead snake" because many are coming to a realization that they are part of the environment and there is no reason to kill them
