My grandfather died last year, and the only part of his estate I asked for was some of his old tackle boxes and fishing equipment. He had a ratty old shadow box hanging in his garage with 4 or 5 lures in it, and I got that too. I cleaned it up a bit and pulled out a bunch of antique lures. He used to go to Canada a lot and fish for muskie and northerns, so a lot of these look like a puppy chew toy.

Great way to keep the memories alive. I did the same thing with some old lures from his tackle box.
Hope you have a good place to display gem.

Ah, much better. I think old lures are cool. One of my true stories...Back in my youth a buddy and I had a friend that lived on a private lake. His parents were super cool and let us fish off their property whenever we wanted. One really cold rainy day my buddy scored some weed. He said let’s go out to such and suck’s house, we’ll take that old Jon boat of theirs out and paddle around the lake. He had the weed so is was like, ok. We paddle out and after testing what he had, I grabbed an old rod that was in the boat and started tossing it out. It had a real old wooden lure on it. It was a 6” long top water with the props on each end. It was painted a purplish color with yellow verticals stripes with painted eyes (look like it was painted with dull spray paint). About the third cast out it just kinda slurped under the water. No big splash or hit, it just suddenly disappeared. I set the hook and caught one of the biggest bass in my life. We weighed it and I remember I was pissed because it was just under 10 lbs.

Love the old lures. No doubt that they would still catch fish.

I swear every old tackle box I’ve ever looked at, had a red and white popper. Great way to remember your Grandpa.
