Using peroxide to clean a airstone for minnow bucket ?

I saw a guy using it to clean airstones for his plants and was wondering if its good for airstone for minnow bucket ?

If not rinsed properly, that will change ph of water and minnows will be very sad floating on top of the water. It will make water alkaline.

I would think a vinegar solution could be used with success. Aquarium shops would probably have exactly what you need.

I agree with Laner. Iāve used vinegar for many years to wash my bait boxes. Then flush it out with fresh water.

In reality, H2O2 is an excellent cleaner for both aquariums and equipment as well. After a short period it is safe, because the bubbles it is releasing is simply oxygen. I breed tropical fish many years ago and it was the safe standard for sanitizing equipment and plants in the aquariums. The stuff we used was far stronger than the Peroxide you by at the drug store.

Hell, many tournament bass fishermen add a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to their livewells to increase the oxygen content of the water. Is it a wives tale? Maybe, but enough do it that if it was a detriment it would definitely be known.

buy new ones,....the're cheap.  Probably cheaper then peroxide.

buy new ones,....the're cheap.  Thatās kind of my thought as well. I wouldnāt spend much (probably not any) time cleaning one myself.
