We produce the most green energy in the US.... one of the few public/private collaborations that has seemingly worked out well... with the exception of their aesthetics. And the fact they kill massive numbers of birds. One of the unintended issues that they didn't think out ahead of time...disposal. The blades are made of fiberglass and they have a lifespan of about 20 years. They are just now having to figure out what to do with the first batches that have to be replaced. They can't be broken down and recycled and they don't biodegrade. I have read that there are special landfills just for the blades. I do like the double ironies of Texas produces more wind energy than the rest of the country combined and that California has more nuke plants than Texas.

Nothing green is serious until we commit to and build nuclear power plants. Each should have a 2000 acre lake stocked with baby bass. Agree. It's the only truly viable solution.

I made a lot of wind today. My high fiber diet has me spending a lot of alone time.

Go look up how many birds die from high rises every year... then compare that to wind farms I worked in downtown Houston for years and to be honest with you I never saw dead birds littering the sidewalk while walking past high rises. I have seen photos of dead birds and bats around windmills. I also know If a duck dies in a oilfield related pit or pond massive fines occur. I also know windmills get a pass from enforcement while killing eagles.

And after a 20-25 year useful life, these almost 300 ft tall rusting monuments will be dismantled and disposed of at what expense? If not dismantled and original land restored, won't these monstrosities be neat to gaze upon in our Texas landscapes for as long as we and our families shall live.

Was in Muenster hunting hogs in March, you can hear them from miles away. Locals don't like them very much, other than landowners that have them. I hear they whistle after being shot in the blade. They can throw blades for over a mile if an issue arises. Know the rancher that found parts of a blade on his place over a mile from this failure. Excessive wind caused the failure.

I agree with the nuclear part, but in my world we would be using thorium fueled reactors. They don't need massive cooling lakes. In fact you could put one right in the middle of Dallas and it would be completely safe.
Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's an EMP!

I was driving to Denver a couple years ago and was coming up onto Amarillo about 4AM, from still about 90 miles out I started seeing all these random red flashing lights. I'd never seen a wind farm at night and had NO idea what it was,. As I got nearer, and the sun slowly rose, I recognized it for what it was.
I pulled into a little store to gas up the car and it was, of course, windy as all get out, being Amarillo. I held the door for a woman who commented, "A little windy, ain't it?" I replied, "Yeah, y'all really should turn them dang fans of!"

Some think they're an eyesore. I think they look cool. Especially at night. They are an eyesore. This!

I have a few friends out south of Sweetwater that have some on their land. Standing at the base of one while it’s spinning is quite impressive

Not just the windmill but all the towers and power distribution lines all over N Texas, They suck, ruin nice views for miles around and just like ethanol ,they are "energy negative", meaning they take more energy to produce, erect, and maintain than is contained in the final product.
GOD is good!
