Could be coming soon, i have to go to work, but i really don't have anything to do. Don't want to get sick and you know what. Haven't been there in a week. Saturday could be last day there, been there 47 years. My wife is about to loose it, because they want me to come to work.

My experience, retired in 2014, is that the pay stinks, but the hours are great.

Just be mindful that in retirement...there are no vacations. Other folks get holidays off...you never do.

I have given notice that I plan to retire at the end of this year...I actually can’t hardly wait. This will make 45 years same company if you count when we merged or were bought by different companies. Last year we were bought by a HUGE pharma company just not my thing to be part of a company with 70k employees worldwide.

My company wants me to stay on part time or consult. Never say never but as of today I plan to fully retire just had enough hammer

On Jan 2 I told the big guy that we need to work towards me retiring in 60-90 days. This would give them time to find a replacement and transition the position to them. Tuesday is 90 days. We're interviewing replacements, but it looks like it's going to be another 30-45 days to get there.

Sure would be nice to have it done and I could just chill at home or spend some more time at the farm.

Getting closer to it being a workable situation for me. 6 month to a year maybe.

Personally, I wouldn't turn down a consulting gig without trying it first. It could prove to be a healthy ramp-down to full retirement... even if you only do it a few months. Going from full time to "no time" is a hard adjustment for many.

Just my two cents

I would be wanting for the economy to return to some sense of normalcy before retiring.

Just a thought...

Definitely a consideration but unless things get a lot worse we put enough back thru the years should be good. I am 64 now will be just shy of 65 when I plan to retire. I feel like I have paid my dues and so many changes happening now and on the horizon there is little doubt in my mind it is time. My financial planner says I could have retired years ago but I wanted to be at or close to 65 so at least I could get affordable insurance.

If I never go back starting right now I will be able to make the adjustment of not working with no problem.

If this virus doesn’t go away I will. Was a hs coach but gave up my head coaching duties this year, age just got the best of me. Principal talked me in to just teaching. I now teach special education kiddos and love it. I would hate to retire but I have look after my health. Plus I only make about $7,000 more than I would in retirement. Just think I need the kids and they need me.

How dare you think about retirement in a time like this.

My plans were to retire in Dec. 2021. Unless the stock market makes a huge rebound before then I will be working beyond that time.

I believe it will, but what stops the market from dropping out after you retire?
Are you pulling your 401 out lump sum that day?
I don't guess I understand the logic here.
