Last few times I've been out on the lake, I've fished in the rain or driven back from the rain (I do not trailer with a boat cover). If the forecast is going to be nice over the day or two following, I'll leave the boat outside to let boat and carpet dry, but a lot of times, rain remains in the forecast, so I'm putting a wet boat in the garage.

What do you guys do in this case? I have one box fan and one blower that I position to try and dry the carpet, but the garage gets really humid, and I get condensation buildup all over.

Do any of you guys keep a de-humidifier in the garage? If so, what brand or model has worked for you? Other ideas?

I'd just open the compartments & let the fans do what they do, pull it out on sunny days.

I’ve run a dehumidifier & fan several times to try out my boat, works pretty good. Just need to empty the bucket in the morning & evening.

I bit the bullet and installed an AC unit in my detached garage last year. I couldn't be more thrilled with the decision and wish I had done it years ago. I have one with a remote controlled thermostat, so it's easy to set it higher when I won't be in there, and just want it to control humidity and cut down on heat during the worst of the hot months. I used a battery powered room monitor to witness the 20% drop in humidity.

I happened to buy a free-standing dehumidifier from Sam's Club for my old farm house. There are times it's just damp or muggy feeling that the dehumidifier is all it really needs vs. firing up a big AC window unit.. I don't regret the purchase, money well spent. Add that dehumidifier and still use the fans, and I think you'd be happy with the result.

I have used a dehumidifier for several years in my garage and would highly recommend. I can flood my carpets when cleaning or if coming home during rain and simple open up compartments and turn on dehumififier . With fan blowing and dehumidifier running the boat is typically dry in 24hrs. You can tell the difference as soon as you walk in.

2nd recommendation - spend the extra $$ and get one with the auto pump out. I purchased my at Lowes - Hisense-70-Pint-2-Speed-Dehumidifier-with-Built-In-Pump I first purchased the cheaper one without the pump out and found the unit would fill and shut off. The pump out comes with a very small hose that can simply be run under or beside garage door to the outside. This units works very well in my 30x30 garage. I set it on AUTO and leave it most of the time...
