Hey TFF, I wanted to try "Joint Style" on a hardbait...mainly because I'm lazy and wanted to try and figure out a "Fail Proof" way to quickly make a Joint between lure body pieces... Obviously it would need to Be: Perfectly Straight, Move freely, and be Strong as hell! I took 2 pieces of wood and laid the Fabric down between them, Applied Glue and clamped the heck out of it... Then started to shaping from there. MISTAKE #1 : I got to much epoxy on the 1st Fabric joint...it was way too stiff so I decided to Cut it out but was able to keep the other 2 Fabric Joints (Allways learning) MISTAKE #2 : I need to find a more flexible fabric...let me know if you know of a suitable material??? So I kind of ended up with a crazy bait in the end...not my original plan but it swims great. (Hope you like it) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/12/full-51573-32086-img_2678.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/12/full-51573-32087-img_2677.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/12/full-51573-32088-img_2679.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/12/full-51573-32089-img_2680.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/12/full-51573-32090-8903c071_17c5_423a_9867_d013c62f7e7e.jpg)

Good looking bait! I'm not sure what kind of fabric you used initially. Trying to google what other companies use or what could be a better option but not having any luck so far. Could possibly try a rigger type belt worn by the military/cops? I have worn the same one for 10 years and it hasn't frayed or worn much at all.
senko- bass can hit baits up to 2/3 their own body length. So that bait is nothing to the kind of bass you would really want to catch!!

That is a nice looking bait! What about strips of a silicone mat material for the joints. I bake a lot of breads and use a mat called silpat which is a reusable baking sheet. The company makes a ton of sizes of mat and other baking and cooking molds which are indestructable. Very thin (maybe 1/32 to 1/16"), very flexible ( I can roll a 15" by 20 " mat into a very tight roll with no center space left), very durable ( I have baked for years on one and it looks like new), and very cheap!. If you are not familiar with it, any cooking store has them as do many of the big boxes. It would have to be cut into strips of the desired length and width and likely would have to be "pegged" transversely thru each body segment as glue would likely not adhere.

Im surprised you got it to swim right on your first attempt. Congrats.
When I was in high school I made a knockoff of the AC Plug. It looked pretty good but it was a complete disaster when I tried to use it. All it did was roll over like a puppy dog over and over again. That was my first lesson in lure design and I learned that anyone can build a bait, but not everyone can build one that swims correctly.

They are tough to get to swim right...every piece has it's own challenges.
Got some more stuff I'm working on...I'll share shortly

I’ve pulled apart many 2-5 lb large mouth with crappie, perch or other bass almost their same size stuck in their mouths. A Bass will try and eat anything they can get their mouths over. We had a club member pull a tennis ball out of a 12 or 13†bass. It’s mouth was stuck open and it was struggling.
