Adversely affected? Absolutely it has. 20 lb carp don't care who's guarding what bed when they are paired up or in a group.

You can see that the yearly stocking has been a huge influence on the genetic make up and size of Lake Fork bass but to say the carp aren't a factor is a pretty far stretch. Common carp eat bass eggs as do some of the other species of rough fish.

I like catching carp on hook.

But I am not picky.

Sorta' a fish tramp, I guess.

I agree with you that carp are a factor. Any fish in a waterbody are a factor. It appears the issue is with my use of the term adversely affected. We could probably spend a great deal of time discussing the term. My point is that in Texas there are lots of lakes where the 2 species coexist and have done so for years. And I have seen a five pound bass on a bed scare and run off a school of 20 pound carp lol. I have even seen a little bluegill, on a bed, run off a school of carp. Certainly carp will eat bass eggs if they are available.

Here is some interesting information on carp relating to the issue.

I have always heard bass will not spawn near carp spawn and as mentioned, I think the bass are mostly done spawning by the time carp move in and spawn. I would look for spawning areas that don't have carp. We ran into this 2 weeks ago during our Palestine tournament. Carp everywhere and no bass. Tried another cove directly next door, no carp and chalked full of spawning bass plus we were able to bag a 7.5lb prespawner.
Other option would be to set your sights on post spawn fish in those carp areas

I rarely have a problem catching bass near spawning carp. Most of the carp are in inches of watet while the bass are in a foot of two depending on clarity.
I guess in in a lake with dingy or muddy water this could be the case because bass spawn a lot shallower.

I know that last year when Brandon Cobb caught that 11lb bass during Texas Fest on Lake Fork last year, there were carp up spawning in the same area. I have a place in that cove and was catching bass up shallow until the carp moved in. I know exactly where he caught the fish and I was surprised. Makes me believe that bass and carp can co-exist in the same general area.
