The carp is totally taking over ,what do the bass do when this happens? Do they still spawn in the area the carp are, tearing up?

Alot of the time the bass will just move out a little ways from the shallow water. The dont like all that commotion and stirred up water. So try moving out a little deeper and see what happens.

females prob already came and went. Correct I've always been told that if the carp are doing their spawning mess up shallow the bass spawn is likely done. So one day Rick Clunn himself was live on Facebook taking questions. I asked him if that was true..he said 90% of the time, that's the case.

Not always the case. I had an area on a local lake where the bass had pulled up in 2-3ft but it was 54-58 degrees. Carp moved in to spawn and pushed them out. Carp left after about a week and bass pulled back in and started spawning

When the carp spawn, I’d say a about 60% of the bass have spawned The bass that haven’t spawned will move out and then spawn between the carp and gar spawns Then gar move in and the bass move out again. The gar spawn then more bass spawning occurs. Of course, some will spawn deeper, especially as the water gets warmer

I've never seen them up at the same time. Really ? In my neck of the woods-- I've seen guarding bass totally exhausted from TRYING to keep carp off there beds. Even seen the carp work in unison... when the bass was chasing one his partner hit the nest.

So you are saying the spawn is 90% over, or 90% of the fish that were spawning are done? Will there be another wave of fish move up after the carp? Seems early for it to be all over.

So if most of the bass have spawned, do the carp thrashing the shallows destroy the nest/eggs/disperse the fry? Nature evens out but it sure seems that fewer carp would mean more bass.

I can tell you I was shocked to see so many carp thrashing the shallows last weekend on Cypress. Normally that's more of a April/May thing but they were sure up there last week.
I seriously doubt the spawn is over but I plan to focus on pre-spawn locations tomorrow.
