The 11tth World Championship Bass on the Fly Fishing Tournament is still scheduled for Saturday May 2, 2020 at Lake Fork Marina. This a fly fishing only tournament and practices catch-photo-release. There is a boater division and a kayak division. Entry fee is $70 per person. Cash payouts are made for the longest 5 fish stringer and longest bass in each division. There are casting contests and plenty of door prizes which make this a fun yet competitive event. You must be registered by April 15 in order to be in the drawing for a new Sage rod. Proceeds from the tournament go to Reel Recovery and Project Healing Waters. Details at www.bassonthefly.org.

Regarding the COVID-19 Virus:
All of our activities are outside with close contact with only your partner or no one else. We will arrange check in, weigh in & make awards in a manner to avoid groups of more than 10 people. We will be monitoring the virus and comply with all medical and governmental directives. If necessary we’ll try to reschedule or cancel. In either event your registration will be refunded if you so desire.

We have been too busy shaming our neighbors for getting fresh air and hoarding toilet paper to consider that we are being driven by fear, not fact and that it has shut down our ability to recognize inconsistencies and look for answers. Instead, we call anyone who questions the “sky is falling” narrative selfish, stupid, and irresponsible because aligning with the prevailing moral outrage renders us impervious to criticism.

Incidentally, there exists a great deal of ACTUAL information our there vs. the sensationalism that, by it's nature, is there to generate clicks or sales. Most folks won't go look for it, but will just take what is spooned to us. That is, if you want to look a the history of this sort of thing, or make an informed decision, or have a conversation that is deeper than the talking points from social media, you may have to get past MSN or CNN or whatever click-bait news feed.

The last word is that this has been cancelled as of yesterday. Ted has more sense than you do.

The ACTUAL information is 1 out of every 26 people that contract it DIE. Compare that to the common flu, like Fox News has been doing, 1 out of every 1000. It’s 36 time more deadly! If you look at the ACTUAL data we still have not peaked at the top of the curve.

After talking with our sponsors, volunteers and past participants we have made the following decision..

"I regret that we must announce the cancellation of the 11th World Championship Bass on the Fly Fishing Tournament which was scheduled for May 2, 2020.
It is very doubtful that the various shelter in place orders will be lifted by May 2nd. While we might be able to work around some of the restrictions the real point is to eliminate the risk of exposure for everyone involved.
If you have registered at ianglertournament.com we will make sure your money is refunded unless you let me know otherwise.
We do not plan to reschedule for later in 2020 at this time. If things clear up, we may try to do something simple in the Fall.
I hope you can still get out and do some fishing in your area and catch a big one!"
