If it's a creek on the shallow side, I can't tell you or I'd have to kill you but it beats anything anybody will mention. A clouser type on a fly rod or cheated with a regular rod/reel is the next best productive unless they're sluggish/tight-lipped after a cold front and held up in deeper holes. A lot of folks will go to a fluke-style bait or whatever jig and work it real slow or bounce it off the bottom. But I've outcaught these folks many of times with slightly faster erratic actions. If it's deeper than usual but not too deep a rat-l-trap or Mirrolure 4M are hard to beat. Deep water vertical my fav is Little George. It just works. Lack of Confidence?lol Lol. Not at all. Just detailed

Roostertail, Little George, Roadrunner, Tiny Torpedo, jighead/swimbaits, slab, slab w/jigs above. Choose your weapons depending on depth, time of year, & just fish! Sandies aren't that complicated when they're eating.

A simple rubber minnow. Tie it on and it wiggles like a wounded minnow. They cannot pass it up

Most of the year it's a slab & jig combo tied on floro with a barrel swivel on top. I fish this as shallow as 10 feet in the lake. Sometimes when there right on bottom we just lay the slab on the bottom and shake the jig. That's top secret info that I just put on the web😬 Small flukes deadsticking a special RSR short jig head in the winter. Road Runners and crappie jigs on dock lights and daytime shallow water.

Don’t forget minnows. When fishing creeks early in the season oftentimes these fish are impossible to catch on lures. Another important note is that when they’re in the shallow creeks the line the bait is tied to is way more important than the lure itself (as long as the lure is within reason for a creek)

I have been fish sandbags, whiteness for over 50 years. There are a vast types of lures that work well. There is no lures that works best all the time. To many factor determine which work when or where. To me, the most important factor is presentation. Two anglers in same boat, using same bait and equipment may have completely different results, only difference is the presentation. Further more, that changes at a moment's notice, stay flexible. That being said, after 50 plus years, I am still learning . Best advise, go often and have fun.
